We are all very saddened by the passing away of Chief Alangeh Romanus Che who was a member of the AFSA Steering Committee from its inception. Chief Romanus was a prominent, highly regarded and influential personality at the African Union. He was also the 1st Vice President of CNOP-CAM, Continental Chairman of the Non-State Actors coordination task team of the CAADP programme of the AU and NEPAD, a member of the international steering group of the civil society network for the scale-up nutrition programme of the UN. In addition to all of this, he was a small-scale farmer and a traditional ruler in the kingdom of Bambui – in the North West region of Cameroon. All this tells us that he lived his life with a great sense of purpose.
Chief Romanus served AFSA with devotion, excellence and high energy. He was indeed a leader of true character.
The Steering Committee, the Secretariat and Members of the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA) pray that his soul may rest in peace. We would also like to ask his family and friends to accept our sincerest condolences on this terrible loss. We will always remember Chief Romanus for his great service and lively personality.
